The Anderson & Sheppard Linen Safari Overshirt

Over the past couple of years, the overshirt has become a popular choice in menswear and understandably so. It somewhat meets the functionality of a shirt and has the ability to do what a jacket ought to do - you can think of it as some form of a hybrid. But, with that being said, it certainly has its own place in a menswear wardrobe and it is further evidenced by a handful of casual sartorial menswear brands having its collections centred around the overshirt. With the launch of its summer collection, the bespoke Savile Row tailors and pioneers of English drape, Anderson & Sheppard make a bold statement with the linen safari overshirt. In short, the Anderson and Sheppard linen safari overshirt is phenomenal. Made from heavy Irish linen the overshirt is finished with four pockets, side slits and buttoned cuffs. It can be dressed down for a casual look or dressed up with a pair of trousers. After wearing it, I felt that it made for a great transitional piece from daytime to evening in the warmer months. The heavy Irish linen is breathable and provides good “airflow” to keep your body temperature in check. As far as colour goes, the linen safari overshirt is available in yellow, brick, khaki, dark blue, teal and cream. No doubt, it will make the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe.

Anderson & Sheppard’s Haberdashery, which opened in 2011 on Clifford Street in London, has broadened the brands offering of menswear pieces including knitwear, trousers, shirts, scarves, hats and ties. The summer collection comes in a beautiful and thoughtful colour palette - there is the use of punchy colours while also pieces in earthy hues. The collection showcases Anderson & Sheppard’s tailoring prowess with its ready-to-wear pieces crafted with elegance. And for those who are looking to upgrade their sartorial summer wardrobe there is definitely something here for you. If you are over in London, head over to the Clifford Street Haberdashery to see the full offering, and give yourself ample time, as I have a feeling that you will need it.
