10 Menswear Brands You Should Get To Know

In a time where social media seems to be at the forefront, it feels impossible to escape the inexhaustible stream of information we consume. It’s now common practice to hear about a whole bunch of brands on a daily basis. But how do we slow down and digest which ones we resonate with and those that work for us? Inspired by a theme I ran on instagram stories of menswear brands that you should get to know, I’ve put ‘pen to paper’ and created a blog post as a point of reference. The selection of brands below inspire my style in some shape or form. So without further ado - and in no particular order - let’s get right to it shall we?

Officine Générale

This Paris menswear brand is all about personality. Officine Générale Founder and Designer Pierre Mahéo says “I think of clothes for the everyday life, full of attitude and personality”. Pick up a great pair of trousers with a distinctive belt design or a jacket in Italian fresco wool. You can also explore the ‘Permanents’ collection which represents the DNA of the brand in the form of essentials of a menswear wardrobe. Italian Fresco Wool Trousers, from £234, officinegenerale.com.

Duchamp London

This British luxury menswear brand is well-known amongst the fashion conscious. Founded in 1989, Duchamp London initially specialised in mens accessories, characterised by bold colours and flamboyant designs. Since 2011 a clothing line has been introduced which has helped position Duchamp London as a lifestyle brand centred around creativity, colour and craftsmanship. I was invited to their showroom in London and received a walkthrough of the recent collection and the exciting plans in store for its future. Every wardrobe has space for a piece from Duchamp London. Blazer, from £200, duchamplondon.com.

Stòffa

Where do we even start? This brand embodies the idea of simple yet significant. As they describe “designed thoughtfully, produced responsibly, and presented graciously”. Stòffa’s vision of relaxed elegance begins with simple forms that balance beauty and functionality. There is a real sense of harmony in their collection and you will often find yourself revisiting Stòffa’s instagram for inspiration. The colour palette is beautiful and carefully assembled which gives this brand a strong identity. The foundation of the Stòffa wardrobe are its trousers. MTO Trousers, from $325, stoffa.co.

Berg & Berg

A personal favourite over the past few years, Berg & Berg offers classic style from a modern, Nordic point of view. The brand has a strong identity and thoughtful detailing throughout its collection. Berg & Berg shirts are crafted from fabrics that are handpicked from mills in Italy and Japan, and their trousers are available in five models - Arnold, Alfonso, Anton, Arthur and Antonio. Along with the selection of shirts and trousers, there comes the addition of polo shirts, cricket and rugby sweaters - all of which compliment the clean lines and detailing of Berg & Berg’s trousers. Knitted Polo, from £139, bergbergstore.com.

Rubato

A new brand in the grand scheme of things and a welcome addition to the menswear world. As the Sweden based brand Rubato describes it, they are reinterpreting pieces in the way they like it. The Rubato V-Neck knitted sweater is made from 100% lambswool and comes in a boxier cut and short in length making it perfect to sport with a pair of high-waisted trousers. I like the low V-Neck which gives the versatility of wearing an open collared shirt underneath of dressed up with a tie too. It’s a piece that is firmly on my bucket list! Standard V-Neck knitted sweater, from £195, atemporubato.com.

Mans Concept Menswear

A brand that is doing things differently. Based out of Madrid, you’ll quickly fall in love with the inspiring cuts of the suiting which create harmonious silhouettes. The inspirations and stories behind each collection showcase the progressive designs and new approaches to masculinity. Mans offers a ready-to-wear collection and a made-to-measure service, which is influenced much from the Savile Row workshops as it is by Japanese techniques. Natalino is a London based brand focused on smart casual, classic menswear. This particular area of menswear has become popular over the past few years, and Natalino find themselves at the sharp end of it. A particular favourite from the brand include the single pleat woollen flannel trousers in mid grey. Made up in 12 oz Vitale Barberis Canonico woollen flannel gives the trousers an elegant drape. If you’re looking for the ultimate high-waisted trousers and button down polo shirt combination, then Natalino will be the brand for you. Pini Parma

Italian brand, Pini Parma is one that I have recently come across. Using expert Italian craftsmanship, the focus is to create timeless pieces and to showcase the intricate skills of the artisans who make them. There is no gimmicks or trends with Pini Parma. It is a brand which aptly represents Italian style that we have all come to love around the world. The fit of clothing is sharp and particularly striking and the offering is comprehensive.
